Luxury brand Aquascutum heading back to UK

Luxury British clothing brand, Aquascutum, will revert back to its roots after its sale to UK fashion entrepreneur, Harold Tillman, by Japanese owned Renown Inc.

Mr. Tillman, who made history as one of the first male students at the London College of Fashion, is best known for his 1990 purchase and transformation of Jaeger, another classic British brand.

Tillman describes his new purchase as being "steeped and steeped in tradition." Aquascutum's history dates back 158 years to producing the first waterproof wool to supply coats for British army officers serving in the Crimean War. Famous customers since then have included the Queen Mother, Baroness Thatcher, Sophia Loren, Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant.

Mr. Tillman will continue heralding Aquascutum's rich heritage, while also revamping its website and adding a high end accessory line to complement the traditional offering of coats and tailored clothing.
